V2 Avatar Physics in Phoenix!?!? o.0
Those of you who attended the May 3rd Phoenix Office Hour might remember me saying "Phoenix will never have V2 Avatar Physics"...well... excuse me while I remove my foot from my mouth...
That was before LL released Avatar Physics which created an incompatibility between V1 viewers and viewers with v2 Av Physics. See below link for reference.
https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-25479
The problem is that V1 viewers don't recognize the appearance data sent by viewers with avatar physics. Initially LL offered us a simple fix which we were going to use, until we saw that Shyotl Kuhr had submitted a backport patch of V2 Av Physics into the Singularity Viewer. With permission from and thanks too Siana Gearz of Singularity and some modifications of our own we have ported that patch into this release.
The reason we chose to include av physics is to increase adoption of this release as it fixes a pretty critical issue which affects content; without this release you will not see people on Viewer 2, Singularity, Firestorms next release..this phoenix release or any other viewer with av physics correctly. Because of this I highly encourage you all to update to this release.
Because av physics isn't the easiest thing to set up correctly we have created some documentation pages on how to use and set up av physics in phoenix here:
http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/doku.php?id=phoenix_avatar_physics
We have also created a MarketPlace account where we are giving away a free box of preset av physics layers used by members of the Phoenix Team. In it you will find physics settings used by Jessica Lyon, Miro Collas, Mobius Ryba, Pudenta Magic, Sunset Faulkes, Thea Brianna,Whirly Fizzle's and many others male and female.
https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Phoenix-Team-Physics/2270517
We will also be putting up other useful freebies on this marketplace account related to the Phoenix and Firestorm viewers for our users as well so stay tuned! The store is being run by our PhoenixViewerMascot account but is controlled by Jessica Lyon and Mobius Ryba.
For those of you who do not want Avatar Physics we still encourage you to update so you see others correctly. You can disable seeing avatar physics in (Prefs> Graphics> Av Physics) while still seeing other avatars normally. You can also disable sending your Av Physics data to the server in (Prefs>Phoenix>Avatar> Don't send avatar physics to server).
Avatar Physics isn't the only thing we've done!, we've also fixed an important security issue, some Mac and Linux bugs, Sculpt fixes and much more. See change log here
http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/doku.php?id=1.5.2.1102_change_log
IMPORTANT: If you have problems with this release...
We highly encourage you to uninstall your previous version of Phoenix before installing this one. If you find your still having issues, chances are very high that a "clean reinstall" will fix it 99% of the time. This often happens because of either conflicts or corruption of the settings files.
Instructions on how to do this here:
http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/doku.php?id=clean_reinstall
Enjoy the release!
Sincerely,
Jessica Lyon and The Phoenix Viewer Project Team.

ReplyDeleteThank you for the new viewer & easy to understand instructions for a clean reinstall. My viewer had become corupted a few days ago & I was forced to use Viewer 2 to get into SL. It was horrible. Now I can enjpy SL again. The new viewer looks giod & seems to work perfectly too.
ReplyDeleteThank you all to the whole Phoenix Team this is another great improvement.
ReplyDeleteI've only just started playing with it but the instructions have been so clear and easy to understand, and the examples you gave out are fun to try. You've done a wonderful job again.
Also I can see so many potential options if clothing and or attachments could have physics modifiers (ie you have your AV with basic set of physics, and then wear some corset or other tight clothing and the breast and belly would be "adjusted") :-)
Thanks for going the extra mile not only to fix the bug, but to make physics actually work in Phoenix. I'd hoped to be able to use it for ears and tail bounce. I have no wish to have my stomach or butt boinging around. At least I'll be able to see others who have it set up.
ReplyDeleteMan i wish you had included multiple layer attachments in this release. For me that is way more important than seeing someone's ass shake.
ReplyDeleteI noticed your wiki says you can edit Belly bounce in a male shape, but I noticed this is not the case, the only ones open for male are Butt bounce/sway and Advanced Parameters.
ReplyDeleteIs this a bug?
Oh dear goodness, these avie physics are nuts! Good job getting them into Phoenix.
ReplyDeleteThat and I was having texture issues with my viewer. 908 works FINE with my house's textures, 1102 just neglected to load them?! o.O
ReplyDeleteWell, started with 1102 last UK night. The physics..my what a load of settings to play with! Apart from that it seems as smooth as silk, though not quite as fast as the previous one (I assume it's the load put on my graphics by the physics). So far I haven't seen any quirks, though one user on Phoenix 1050 reported seeing me as partially Ruthed - she sent me a photo - never seen a partial Ruthing before! another super-smooth download and installation - Many Thanks to all the Dev Team and Phoenix in general.
ReplyDeleteI have some glitches on the graphics, specially on avatar mouth and eyes, very annoying, cleaning caches didn't work for me. Running on Mac OS X. version 1050 was running just fine, back to the previous one.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jessica, I got him :-)
ReplyDeleteI just did the clean instal as described with 1102 and as with 1050 I still have my fps cut in half. *sigh* back to 908 once again.
ReplyDeleteThe avitar physics are really cool too but Im not gonna sacrifice that much in movement.
Don't ask me why but for some reason I keep crashing :( Anybody else have this problem?
ReplyDeleteIs this the end release or a candidate release
ReplyDeleteComes this version also in SSE2 and LAA ?? Thanks for the great job on this version..:)
ReplyDeleteI really like the viewer. but sadly the recent and teh previous version didnt fix the media player problem finally. now i try the old .373 copy trick.
ReplyDeleteOn behalf of the support team, we thank you for your comments.
ReplyDeleteFor those seeking assistance, you can either contact our support staff, as Jess indicated, or check out all our wiki help pages or file a JIRA.
ReplyDeleteAny chance of getting the Aurora variable region changes added to Phoenix? its an incredible thing to have 1024m regions!
ReplyDeleteThank bunch Jessica and all the rest of the team...absolutely world Class!
ReplyDeleteFrame rate will not go above 10, and is far worse with Firestorm. Uninstalling both.
ReplyDeleteHello this information are like simple to learn more message to this website and also getting the wonderful to follow this message i easily to achieve this ranking position.

Everything is fine but I have one person I cannot see. Tried getting http textures, upgrading from from 1050 to 1102. clearing the cache, doing a clean install, nothing. This "person" is invisible. they show on the radar but they are "out of range" iven in chat range. What else is there to try?
