Gotcha! Happy April fools Day!

Our Phoenix Viewer users have all noticed on logging in today that there is a Neko avatar staring back at them on the login page. This is my avatar, Jessica Lyon,  Project Manager of the Phoenix Project. There has been some concern that the viewer has been hacked, this of course is incorrect. Unfortunately our Legal department email address has been inundated with concerned residents. As some may not realize the login screen is loaded dynamically from the web and can be changed at any time, just as the LL login screen changes almost every time it's loaded. While most of our users got the joke, some were offended by it. I'd just like to point out at this time that there are websites all over the internet participating in jokes on this day including Wikipedia, Google, Microsoft, WoW and many many others.

On another note.. and this is NOT a joke.. our fund raiser for Japan relief has generated over $1700 US so far thanks to you! Thank you all SO much! It's important to remember that while we may not have much.. we have more than they do right now. Keep those donations coming!

    There's an extra space (%20) at the end of the link in this post, which makes the address invalid.

    I think it is cute.I just logged on for the first time today and I love it.I have a few alts that are Neko so I see no problem at all.If anything I would love to see the Neko for awhile because it livens up the log in page.Thank You Miss Jessica for making our log in different and fun.

    As a neko myself, I must admit I blinked once and the burst out in squees and giggles.

    I thought it was brilliant, cute and clever. Heck I even openly admit it that I restarted phoenix about 10 times for different screens (ok so I am easily amused). Personally I wouldn't mind that as the standard login screens .. and a cute avi you have to boot!

    Jessica, you're soooo cute! I smiled and giggled when seeing the login page. The people who are offended by the picture should use a textviewer, so no loginscreen... "Offence is always in the eye of the beholder".

    However, I heard other weirdness that was not funny. Some couples thought their partner had left them:
    The partner didn't show up at once in the viewer when they opened their own profile. >.< Dunno if this was a real April Fools joke or just a very laggy region but if your entire profile loads except your partner, it could cause a bit of panic then. ;-)

    Is anyone else having issues with Phoenix? ie: crashing, locking up, ect? 3rd party viewers are better than SLV-2. but SWome of us could use a Lighter version..

    I enjoy phoenix, but now have to use imprudence or emergence, since they dont lag, crash of freeze like Phoenix.. :(

    Haha Tex, nah, I'm Australian and I was one of those who sent in a message out of concern, just in case ... I was pretty sure that it was an April Fool's gag, but what better time to hack than when everyone will think it's a joke?

    I don't understand why anyone would have been offended though ... confused, sure, but offended?

    I thought it was AWESOME and I snapped a copy of the screen and sent to all my friends :D Didn't realise there were multiple versions though! Can't for the life of me figure how anyone could be *offended* by that image, unless you stuck one up there with boobs out or something!! Great SLcentric version of the classic lolcat - don't let anyone convince you it was a bad idea!! :)

    Did you know that Japan is one of the riches countries in the world and that everyone will get supplemented for their losses? If those that do not have family in America helping out, they have family in Hawaii, other parts of the world. Plus are you sure the people that really do need the help will get the money we send?

    Why can't we do this for people in this country that need the help to feed their kids or put a roof over their heads, because they just lost their jobs.
