Phoenix Viewer Release Candidate 1.5.2.1050

Phoenix Viewer Release Candidate 1.5.2.1050 is now live. Release candidate means that while the release has been thoroughly tested by our Quality Assurance Team and passed, we want to make sure that it is as good as it possibly can be. Your feedback over the next few days on this version will help us determine whether we get to change it to an official release. Although this is a release candidate, it is official and we will be providing support for it.

Why should you update?
- This build is expected to be our most stable ever, we have fixed dozens and dozens of crash bugs and spent a great many hours on stabilization.
- We have resolved many more sculpt rezzing issues.
- Most importantly... The Client Bridge prim has been updated.

About the Bridge update and why it is so important to update your phoenix viewer to this release.

The client bridge is an object the viewer creates and attaches to your avatar. This prim expands the functionality of the viewer for things like double click Teleports and greater accuracy for positional data of avatars on the built in radar.
The bridge was invented long before Phoenix and was created using a bug which allowed the prim to be 100% invisible. This is not the same as being transparent or made transparent with a texture, it is truly invisible. However if you could see it, you would see a default sized spherical prim attached to your waist.

Linden Lab is fixing the bug which was used to create this invisible prim and this fix will quite possibly cause the prim to render with a plywood texture. Effectively if you don't update, you will be seen wearing a plywood sphere around your waist when this fix is implemented by the Lab.
More info on this fix here: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-6782

We have created a new bridge prim in this release using a very small micro prim, made fully transparent. When you first log into this release, please log into a region where you can build so the viewer can create the new bridge object. Once created the object should go to your Objects folder first, then be automatically moved to the #Phoenix folder in your inventory.

Remember that if you have problems with this release our Support Staff will be standing by to help, but please be patient and understand that they will be very busy over the next while.

Note: RLVa has not been updated due to time constraints.

Enjoy!

  1. I have just downloaded the latest Phoenix Viewer 1.5.2.1050 and logged in. Everything was extremely slow to rezz and the sim extension I have on my land remained as a very large ball and would not materialise into its normal form.

I am going to have one more try of logging in and if this persists then I will reload 1.5.2.908. I will monitor other peoples comments to see if they have a similar experience.

    Thanks

    PaSha

  2. Just logged in again and the same problem occurred but I waited patiently for the sim extension to form and move out into the ocean.

This did happen but there were still sculpties that were not rezzing, so I have decided to download my old 1.5.2.908 until others have given their views (it may just be me).

    Thanks

  3. still no multiple tattoo layers? this makes me super sad =(

  4. Release candidate on a Mac caused my frame rate to drop under 10 from its normal 25plus. I did clear cache and check settings. Reverting back on the viewer restore my normal performance, so it seems not to be a problem with sl just now.

  5. Thanks! *_*
when its possible make the phoenix available for wear the same multiple layers clothes?

  6. I'm used to turn with my avatar left clicked constantly... Mouse sensitivity is completely broken ! It turns way to fast, and it is impossible to set it differently !

  7. I just downloaded the new Phoenix 1.5.2.1050, and I can't log into Second Life!

  10. I have just downloaded the latest version and, in general, it looks good.
However, when I move from location to location I get an infuriating message about media which I have to act on before I can do anything.
Is there any way I can avoid getting this message?

    Thanks

    Gladia

  11. @Gladia Media settings are in audio and video tab, untick media filter. Best to just add each one to the whitelist,as you allow ones you trust you'll get less popups.

@everyone complaining still about MULTIPLE tattoo layers. Come on ! No series 1.xx viewer has these because it's underlying code in 2.x viewers that allow this. Wait for Firestorm or use the firestorm preview if you want this so much.

  12. I downloaded the latest Phoenix release and after a few hours of running it, I've had no problems with it's performance.

  13. yeah, fps slowed down a bit but i will go for seth's experience, running the viewer for a couple of hours and see if it gains speed. back to 908 won't be a good solution as the bridge will be borked sooner or later.

  14. I have logged in using 1050 and I have no problems but my media is not playing. I get a message to allow, blacklist or whitelist. My media still not playing.

  15. Strange
I downloaded 1050 and installed as I have all other Phoenix versions, i.e. into its own folder.
The se-up ans running so far is absolutely fine. I wouldn't say that sculpty rezzing is any better though, despite your claim. It does appear to have cured my PC's habit of writing texture files to disc rather than using RAM, and that's a BIG gain. Overall, I'd say 1050 is faster than 977, which, to me was a big disappointment after 818 and 908. What IS it with sculpties these days?

  16. I just downloaded and used the new version. I'm still waiting for my own avi to fully rez after 15 minutes. Everything textures and skins clothes everything.. all blurry. Going back to old one!

  17. I downloaded it and it was good for me though.
it was smooth and invetory items fetched pretty quick.
Just have to say that i'm Using V2 for a while now because of the multiple tattoo and clothing layers.
And that still wins it for me.
so i guess i keep using V2 until phoenix finally gets that option

    ReplyDelete
  18. Ok so i downloaded and used 1050 last night, shirts and other clothing appeared blurry to me for nearly 40 minutes, and everyone around me could not see my clothing at all.. They could see prims i wore but not actual clothes. (the guys were happier than pigs in poo cause they got their boooby fill for the day) trying 977 version wish me luck

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yeah come on guys. Add the multi-clothing/tat/booty options please!

    ReplyDelete
  20. the draw distance seems to default back to 64 after every TP in this RC.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Just how many times does it have to be repeated that multiple clothing layers is part of the V2 codebase. It will be in Firestorm, but v1 codebase cannot do it...ever. So by deduction, Phoenix, which though the best viewer in SL (probably)is v1 codebase, will never be able to offer multiple clothing layers. Is all.

  22. I have reloaded 1050 and fingers crossed it now seems to be ok.

  23. For Second Life DJ's and promoters, it would be good to have the feature to be able to mass invite your entire buddy list to events with one click. Another feature is the share option that allows dj's to mass send fliers, designers to mass send photos of new creations to everyone on their friends list. finally i would love to be able to mass invite everyone on my buddy list to join my groups. all of those tools are available on SL's official viewer 2.

    ReplyDelete
  24. No thank you! I never crash using Phoenix, I actually loved that little feature. Today? Crashed 5 times. Media security is a tad annoying, and really not all that useful? Thats why we have the "enable/disable" feature. Honestly Phoenix... try leaving the good things alone and quit adding crap in.

  25. CRAZY SLOW my brand new imac i7 is not happy with this update... :(

  26. I noticed it still has the strange tab through on the login page which was introduced in the last version. Instead of first name, last name, password by hitting tab, now it's first name, remember name, last name, password.

  28. Unable to create requested object. Object is missing from database. Lost over 2500 lindens worth of no copy items so far, makes me want to just quit sl all together never had this happen out of all the years i been on sl. I am guessing it has to do with the bridge or what ever was changed since the last beta and the link with the asset server but who cares i am screwed now anyways thanks a lot guys!

  29. There is no mention of any fixes with the issue of Pheonix creating more memory leakage than any other viewer despite its crash stability regardless of that fact. Is this going to be worked on or is it going to be allowed to reduce the visual performance of the viewer to its lowest possible?

  30. Will Microsoft Finally Release A Normal Picture Viewer For Windows 7?

    Thank-you

  31. I'm pretty happy with the 977 release. Although there are a few twitches, but that's with any viewer, like it or not. It's not only faster for me, but it's smoother. Different viewers/releases work differntly on certain computers, in my opinion. I'll be sticking with 977 until I start to see a bit more positive comments about 1050. Thanks for all the hard work guys!!

  32. I've received several of the same error message when installing this candidate:

"An error occurred when trying to replace the existing file:
    Delete File Failed; Code 5
    Access is denied"

For several different parts of the install. I hit Retry, but it's no good. What to do??

    ReplyDelete
  33. I tryied it a a few days, I experience slower framerate and more memory usage as 977beta
so I am back to 977 again

    ReplyDelete
  34. I have terrible problems with the new viewer too. Very very slow to rezz a sim and impossible to shop as the item boards can take up to 8 minutes to load, even then some are fuzzy. My clothing also takes a while to stop being fuzzy and some jewelry items half disappear or altogether.Says "worn " in inventory but cannot see item. Have to take off and put on again!! One recent store I waited over 8 minutes for the boards to rezz!! Never had this with the previous version. I think I will revert back again to that!

  35. What the fuck have you done.
3 Months now i had absolutly no problems with take pictures and now again the windows greyed out and the viewer need to restarted. thank you very much and i will delete the holy fucking viewer now. its the last time i gave it a chance to work

  36. I have also tried the latest Phoenix Viewer 1.5.2.1050 and experienced a significant drop in fps. It's in the area of 5-8 fps slower than the previous version. Also objects and Avitars rezzed slower than the previous version. I have gone back to 1.5.2.908 until this is corrected.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I was having the same problem everyone else here is describing with the extremely slow loading textures and sculpties. I think I've solved it. When I first installed Phoenix 1050 I cleared the cache like the website suggested. However, I figured I'd give it a second try again and now things are loading extremely fast. In fact the textures seem to be loading faster than 977 & 908, especially sculpties. Give it a try guys, clear your cache again even if you already did it.

  38. @DESIRE
Lol, and can I have an option to automatically delete assholes from my friends list that send me TPs and invites that I didn't ask for?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Downloaded the 1.5.2.1050 which seems to rezz things quicker, however attachments are not working for me, HUDs won't attach and double click to put on clothing is inconsistent. help can't use my huds with this version.. ugh

  40. I'm still crashing at random times. Particularly if we start fighting in SIM. Or when I pan around. And crash way worse when I'm on low then when I'm on Ultra graphic setting with everything turned up to nearly max. It's weird. I keep my DD at about 96 average to reduce the texture load. And like Pasha said, it loads slower. Sculpts in particular seem to take two - three times longer then before. Biggest issue is the random crashes.

  41. @Desire
Any DJ or designer who spammed their flist like that would lose me instantly as their friend! This is what GROUPS are for. Or don't the busy creative types have time for friends who may not actually wish to come running at the drop of a hat? If the LL v2 client has incorporated this feature, then this is yet another reason for me NOT to use it. Phoenix/Firestorm programmers, please do not do this. Ever. Or at least put in a 'disable' switch for those of us who hate spam. Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I can't stand this version. I am going back to 977. This one loads so slow that I get grey hairs. lol

    ReplyDelete
  43. This thing is a mess for me. My computer is a fail as it is, but this new version of the viewer has blown everything for me. My avatar looks like crap and I can't change my clothes! Back to the old version until this is fixed. :(

    ReplyDelete
  44. Can't really say that I'm happy with this update, the only changes that I noticed are that my framerate is chopped in half in most areas, where I got 20 FPS I now get 10-15 FPS. Also had a few BSOD's which were all only occuring while using Phoenix Viewer. Graphics card is up to date, 8800 GTX, 4GB RAM and Core 2 Duo E6750. (In case system specs are welcome for testing purposes.

  45. hi ref 1050.

not sure if anyone else is getting the same, evrything is very slow to load. but also keep getting logged out by sl.seems almost everytime i port. i know its not the region. will carry on trying for a bit longer, but may have to go back to 908. any other info. please feel free to message me.

  46. I have had it for a few days now, and have had no problems at all with it. Rezzing was slow at first, only on the first day, but I attributed it to the cache and the rest of the program repopulating. It could have also been that the entire grid was slow too.
