A new bug was brought to our attention recently that effects region restarts while using our Metaharper skin in our Firestorm Mesh Beta. Basically, the region will fail to restart and be left in a state that only LL Support can fix. We traced the origin of the bug, fixed it and have updated our download files.
If you are an Estate Manager who performs region restarts AND you use the Metaharper skin it is strongly advised that you download our updated version 3.0.1.22566 from our download links on this page. No other skin is effected by this bug. Alternatively, you can fix the issue yourself without installing this optional update by following the instructions listed on this page. http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/doku.php?id=fs_region_restart_bug
We have also patched a performance issue some people may be effected by which essentially drops performance when you have many IM windows open at once. If you have performance drops while having multiple IM windows open you may find an improvement with this optional update.
If you do not fall into the above criteria there is no need for you to update or worry, aside from what's listed above, nothing else has changed since our 3.0.1.22525 Mesh Beta.
Sincerely
Jessica Lyon
Phoenix Viewer Project
Good fix ... thank you.
ReplyDeleteThis update sets off my Norton AntiVirus and States that SLPlugin.exe has Suspicious.MLApp and it auto removes the file..
ReplyDeletei know it's probably a false alarm.. but thought you'd like to know ^_^ and maybe just a simple fix.. but hopefully not actually a virus o.o'
Mine does that too raven. It still lets me use it thankfully, now I just have other problems! lol
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI really like using the firestorm viewer but I have one big issue that is really getting to me. I've continued to have stream issues with the viewer everywhere I seem to tp to. Constant skipping with the music. I don't know what else I can do to fix the problem. I've been in contact with a support person but still having this issue. I don't have that problem as much with Phoenix. Please with the next major update can you put in a stream patch? Thanks. Below is my contact email if you want further info.

Thanks for your time. I would like to keep using firestorm but getting frustrated with the stream skipping.
Solar fixation is not possible
ReplyDeleteIt is reset when I move to other SIM.
Just letting you know, this install and the previous one have both set off my Norton antivirus as well. At some point, if you're able to look into it, I'd like to know why it thinks SLPlugin is a virus. What does it do? Because it seems its being picked up due to it's behavior.
ReplyDeleteI'm also having the Stream Skipping issues with the music stream, and with the media stream I can see the video but no audio at all on videos. I do not have any of these problems with Phoenix or Viewer 2
ReplyDeleteNorton has a new feature that is pure evil. It will say things are suspicious if not many norton users use it.
ReplyDeleteTime for everyone to uninstall norton if you ask me.
Heya,
ReplyDeletedo you plan to add on Firestorm a function to hide our looking point cross and see others ppl looking point cross, like on Phoenix ?
where is the bug report link? I'm having issues when trying to search it opens a blank grey box with no buttons clickable
ReplyDeleteDonte: I think norton just put the one file in a jail... but it's still usable. It's just in check. Also, my opinion is not the gospel
ReplyDeleteMy issue with Firestorm is that when I go to edit something on myself, like a prim, I automatically crash. Quite frustrating since many times I need to adjust prims like jewelry and such. Is anyone else experiencing this, and if so what have you done to fix it. Thanks
ReplyDeleteI would like to move to the Mesh upgrade but my voice doesn't work properly. People can hear me but I can't hear anyone. Is there a fix to this yet?
ReplyDeletethx for fix linden lags mistakes lol
ReplyDeletewhy do they always breka this stuff???
Gosh I really like Firestorm, but there are a lot bugs introduced in this release that were bad enough to make me install V3.
ReplyDelete1) Search Box is an empty black box that does not allow searching.
2) I used the Firestorm skin with dock tabs, and the docked windows are not always showing up. The bug fix release actually seemed to make this problem worse.
3) Problems with Music Streams not changing properly when moving from parcel to parcel on the same sim is still a big problem (from last major release) but in a 3.0 release you would have thought this would be address.
One additional comment. I would often like to report problems I find with your release, but I cannot get your bug tracking system to work for me.
A viewer SKIN can stop a region from restarting?????
ReplyDeleteAmazing... what kind of design is that..
What Raven said, I quarantined the file, just to see how things work without it. This was with AVG.
ReplyDeletesl plugin is a viruS???
ReplyDeleteis this like emerald again???
Norton flags some files as "virus" simply because they have not been used by enough Norton owners.
ReplyDeleteNorton kicked SLplugin and it is no longer on my computer so search does not work. I will wait for the next FS release before i reinstall with the virus checker turned off.
ReplyDeleteThis sucks, I can't hear any music at all, I enabled all media to play and auto play, still hear nothing at all.. music works fine with viewer 2, but not this or phoenix.
ReplyDeletei'm not enjoying this automatic zoom in whenever i turn my avatar around! i use a large seawolf dragon avatar and i am unable to find away, if there is any, to disable this bizarre zoom in feature whenever i turn my avatar around. the camera literally pans into my butt and i cant see jack, then i have to swivel myself around for the view to pan back out. i dont have control of my camera like i did in phoenix viewer. is there a way to change this?
ReplyDelete@ Nico: Prefs/Privacy/Don't send my actual camera target hints to others AND Prefs/Firestorm/General/Show look at target.
ReplyDelete@ starr: Prefs/Firestorm/View/Clicking your avatar keeps camera position.
I'm really loving Firestorm. I find it FAR more stable than the standard V3 beta. I can wander the grid with shadows on and haven't crashed since installing it. Haven't found a singe bug so far. Great work!
ReplyDeleteStrange. 3.0.1.22525 was fine for me but 3.0.1.22566 has caused a strange, unrelenting, bug that causes my avatar to constantly flick between being visible and invisible. I've had to revert to 3.0.1.22525.

ReplyDeleteIs there a date when we can expect an new update addressing the worst of the quality issues in this release.
ReplyDeleteI really appreciate all the work that is being done and think that Firestorm is going to be a great viewer. But I'm becoming increasingly frustrated at the frequency, or lack thereof, of the releases of updates. Surely features are being added and issues fixed on a nearly daily basis. So where are the nightly or at least weekly builds? Why have I been using the same viewer with the same issues for over a month? This is supposed to be a beta testing platform at present, but surely there has been time to collect all the feedback necessary to produce a new version by now, another beta if not a final release. A new version should be released every time there's something new to add, even if it's just an under the hood change or something that most people will find somewhat insignificant. I applaud the viewer, but wish I could see more work in progress.
ReplyDeletePlease help! I cannot get Firestorm to open on my computer. it crashes before I can open it. I have followed the suggestions and deleted files and it's still a no-go. FYI..I am using the old SL Viewer and also have Phoenix, which runs good, had no problem with Emerald, but cannot also run the newest version of the SL viewer, it crashes before opening as well. What is going on?? Any suggestions, please!?!?!
ReplyDeleteNot being funny but my only gripe with firestorm and its a BIG one for me is that it looks and smells like SL Viewer 2 and I will never like a program that uses that GUI. You should have stuck to the Phoenix GUI.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore Phoenix
Using for the first time. Most things seem fine but the search box opens to a large blank box. I am unable to write anything there and therefore unable to search
ReplyDeleteI love the mesh but barely get on firestorm because for some reason when i walk around with my avatar it ends up flickering from a regular avatar to everything being completely black. is that just me or are other people having the same issues?
ReplyDeleteI,too, cannot hear Music with this viewer, and am really bothered about it.I play the music I have stored in my PC,but,..cant goto a club and dance with everyone else!! Also,I'm with djspooky,..about it looking too much like V2,and I hated that thing. I may just dump the few meshes I have, and go back to just the Phoenix original. That was the only reason I DLed Firestorm. For the meshes. And,I have the 1.6 version of this viewer!!
ReplyDeleteHEY!! I just this second did a search and read that there is the little grey music symbol up in the right top of the Firestorm viewer.Next to where you see the time! I clicked on it,and POOF!! I have music now!!!!
ReplyDeleteim sick of crashing with firestorm sometimes it could be 3 times a day then i have to reboot my system dont no what the problem is
